This Privacy Policy applies to the Chinese Tone Checker mobile application (the "Application") provided by kotoba soft ("we," "us," or "our").
Information We Collect
We do not require an account or ask for your name or contact information to use the Application.
Voice recordings
With your microphone permission, voice recordings you make for tone checking are sent to our servers and a speech-processing service provider to check your tones.
Usage and technical information
We use an analytics provider to collect limited usage and technical information, such as:
- an app-generated installation identifier
- device type, operating system, app version, and app language
- app usage, practice results, timestamps, and error information
- approximate location inferred from your IP address, such as country, region, or city
We do not send voice recordings to our analytics provider or collect precise location through GPS. The installation identifier lets us associate usage information with support and diagnostic records from the same installation.
We and our hosting providers also process IP addresses and basic connection information to operate and protect the service.
Optional feedback and result reports
If you send feedback, we receive your message, app version, and installation identifier. If you choose to report a result, we also receive and store the recording, analysis results, and related practice information. We may listen to reported recordings to investigate problems and improve tone analysis. Feedback and result reports are optional.
If you contact us by email, we receive your email address and the information you include.
How We Use Information
We use this information to:
- provide tone-checking feedback
- understand how the Application is used and improve its features and usability
- investigate reported results and improve tone analysis
- respond to feedback and support requests
- diagnose technical issues, monitor stability, and prevent misuse
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information.
We share information with service providers for analytics, hosting, speech processing, and customer support only as needed to operate, analyze, secure, and improve the Application, respond to support requests, or comply with legal obligations. These providers may use the information only to provide services to us and are required to protect it. Information may be processed in countries other than the country where you live.
Data Retention
Ordinary practice recordings are removed from our analysis server after processing. Recordings and analysis results that you choose to report are retained for as long as reasonably necessary to investigate issues and improve tone analysis.
We retain analytics, feedback, support correspondence, and security records only for as long as reasonably necessary for their stated purposes and to comply with legal obligations.
Practice progress and temporary recordings are stored locally on your device.
Your Choices and Requests
You can revoke microphone permission in your device settings at any time.

Children's Privacy
The Application is intended for a general audience of Chinese language learners and is not specifically directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If you believe that a child under 13 has provided personal information to us, please contact support@chinesetonechecker.com, and we will take reasonable steps to delete that information.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure.
